Thought I’d explain a little about the universe of the comics… you know, if you’re interested.

Danchester is a large city in England. It’s designed to be geographically non-specific, so I can base it on all the cities I’ve lived in without having to make sure I’ve drawn all the landmarks correctly as I would if I’d have chosen a real city. In size I’d say it’s about the size of Manchester, with lots of little towns and district surrounding it. It has the postcode region of D (as in D1 4JP)

It’s a typical English city; good shopping, great nightlife, a massive music and sports arena, and the Queen recently opened a brand new athletics centre. Its two football teams (Danchester Rovers and Danchester City) are both premier league, and its basketball team is one of the best in the country (not that this matters, basketball really isn’t all that big here).  From 7pm up until 8am, the city has an atmosphere of binge drinking, lewd behaviour and casual violence; the larger the city, the larger the population of scallies and chavs.

It plays host to such renowned bands as Yuban Sarckola and The Drums, and The Mackbolany Dance Troupe, who’ve really helped to put Danchester at the forefront of British music. Every year there’s a citywide music and film festival which lasts around a week and plays host to several celebrity guests, primarily from local soap opera Tolstoy Crescent.
